  • Device data – Browser type, operating system, and approximate (city-level) location transmitted by your browser each time you visit.

  • Ad-interaction data – Views and clicks on on-page ads or sponsored sections, recorded via our ad platform’s built-in reporting.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information or any data from children under 13.

How we use your information

  • Deliver content. To publish articles, personalize reading recommendations, and remember preferences such as font size.

  • Improve the site. To spot broken links, gauge article popularity, and test layout changes.

  • Send newsletters. To deliver 1–3 UX Bulletin posts per day and occasional announcements you opt into.

  • Show tasteful ads. To keep UX Bulletin free without disruptive pop-ups or autoplay media.

  • Ensure security. To detect spam, manage abuse, and protect the service from attacks.

We rely on legitimate interest or your consent (where required) as legal bases for processing.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use first-party cookies for core site functionality and aggregated analytics. Third-party ad partners may set their own cookies to cap ad frequency and measure performance. You can disable non-essential cookies at any time via your browser settings.

Advertising and sponsorship

UX Bulletin accepts on-page advertising and sponsorships that are clearly labeled. Advertisers never receive your contact information. Ad targeting is contextual—based on the article you’re reading, not on personal profiles.

Email communications

Our mailing list is managed through a reputable email-service provider that follows industry-standard security and anti-spam practices. Every email contains a one-click unsubscribe link.

Data sharing and third parties

We share data only with:

  1. Service providers (hosting, email delivery, analytics, ad platform) who process information on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.

  2. Legal authorities when required to comply with law or protect our rights.

We never sell your personal information.

International transfers

UX Bulletin is based in the United States. If you access the site from another country, your data may be transferred to—and processed in—the U.S. We use Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards where required.

Your privacy rights

  • GDPR (EEA/UK). Access, correct, delete, restrict, or export your personal data, and object to certain processing.

  • CCPA (California). Request disclosure of data categories, opt out of “sale” (we do not sell data), and request deletion.

  • All users. Unsubscribe from email at any time and disable cookies through browser controls.

Data security

We use HTTPS encryption, server-side firewalls, access controls, and regular software updates to guard against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.

Data retention

We keep contact data until you unsubscribe, analytics data for up to 26 months, and server logs for no longer than 90 days unless needed for security or legal reasons.

Children’s privacy

UX Bulletin is not directed at children under 13. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child, we will delete it immediately.
